Silver Bracelet
Silver is a soft white lustrous transition metal and is used in mirrors and coins as well as jewellery. However the principal use of silver is as a precious metal. The metal is chosen for its beauty in the manufacture of jewellery and silverware, which are traditionally made from the silver alloy known as sterling silver, which is 92.5% silver and usually alloyed with copper. The name of United Kingdom monetary unit 'Pound' originally had the value of one troy pound of sterling silver.

Jewellery has probably been around since the dawn of man; indeed, recently found 100,000 year-old Nassarius shells that were made into beads are thought to be the oldest known jewellery. Although in earlier times jewellery was created for more practical uses, such as wealth storage and pinning clothes together, in recent times it has been used almost exclusively for decoration. The first pieces of jewellery were made from natural materials, such as bone and animal teeth, shell, wood and carvedstone. Jewellery was often made for people of high importance to show their status and in many cases, they were buried with it.
